They have been reading and looking at a range of different poem from very well know poets to everyday children.
Yesterday they looked at personification. This is when you assign the qualities of a person to something that isn't human or, in some cases, to something that isn't even alive. They then tried to write a poem about the forest that uses personification to create a powerful/emotive image.
Here are a few extracts from what the children wrote today. I am very impressed with their use of vocabulary and I think they created some powerful and emotive images.
The sun peaked through the trees while the vines pirouetted around the neck of the tree.
Leaves dangling from the tree in anticipation to leave home.
Rain crying down in sorrow to the ground.
The sun's flash capturing the trees in their emerald gowns.

The bright white water trespassed over the stones.
The veins sailed down to the ground to snatch at the emerald green moss.
